Week 2: Getting Your Tech On!

Another semester begins. . .I hope the first day wasn't too bad for the non-techies nor too slow for the technophiles.  We should settle in to a comfortable pace in another week or so.  As a fan of collaborative learning and knowledge sharing, I highly encourage you to help your peers when you can and to feel comfortable asking for help.  Technology is one of those things that can either frustrate you or empower you, depending on the day or the time. . .

You should have your ISTE and TaskStream accounts set up, and your intro letter text should be written and on a blog post.  This week, I will show you how to get an image inside of your post and how to submit the assignment in CougarCourses. If your blog isn't linked under class blogs, ensure that I get your address ASAP!  If you click on your name and your blog doesn't link, ensure you submitted the correct address. . .small, easy fixes ;-)

Class This Week:  You will also create an iGoogle page, learn how to change the design of your blog, and look at the settings.  Also, I will introduce the Journal Articles 1-5 assignment and discuss file naming conventions. If we have time, I'll discuss the self-portrait scanning assignment.

This Week's Question: Who is your current favorite band or musician?
I will always say "current favorite," so it takes the pressure off of having to name your "all-time favorite" anything.  Radiohead is probably my favorite, but I have been listening to a lot of Arcade Fire and Kings of Leon lately. . .

    My favorite band is Muse. I went to see them three times last year...Las Vegas (04/2010), Anaheim (09/2010), and New York (10/2010). I can't wait for their new album!

    I don't have any "favorite" band. There are to many bands over to many types of music I like that I don't have any favorite bands. So I don't know how to respond to this particular type of question because I don't follow any particular type of music or any particular type of band. I just like the music and I don't think it is fair to judge a certain band because I happen to like a song or two of theirs. It's about the music, not the band.

    I don't really have a favorite band or artist, I listen to a variety of different music, and like to listen to whats new. I have always liked Eminem though!

    Right now my favorite would have to be Lil Wayne and Drake. Those two are definitely being played the most on my ipod these days.

    I dont think I have just one current "favorite" band...it really just depends on my mood! Some times I love Taylor Swift, other times I love Lil Wayne and then everything in between :o)

    Current favorite musician would have to be Amos Lee. He immediately came to mind because I was unable to get tickets to his concert at the House of Blues this past Saturday Night. I really like his mellow and unique style =)

    My all time favorite group is Daft Punk. My favorite musician is Bob Marley. I could listen to him all day, everyday. However, at the moment I am listening to a lot of David Grey.

    I think I have to say that my favorite musician is Michelle Branch. She has an amazing voice and I lover her music. I have other favorites as well but her I have been listening too for the longest :)

    My favorite band right now is Lady Antebellum. My favorite solo musician is Bruno Mars. They both have catchy songs and amazing vocals. Of course I have other favorites, but right now I am constantly listening to them.

    My current favorite musician is Dean Martin. I know he's an old guy (well actually he's not even around anymore) but I love his music. His voice is so mellow and his song are so easy to dance to!

    My two favorite bands of all time are CCR and Styx. They are timeless and always put me in a good mood. I have seen Styx twice in concert and they are amazing. Currently, I have been listening to a lot of country artists such as The Eli Young Band and Jason Aldean. I also have been listening to Mumford and Sons and Phoenix and playing their songs on guitar.

    I would have to say that one of my favorite bands right now is a local band called The Burning of Rome. Their genre is death-pop. Which is not something I thought I would ever like, but It's so fun and dancey I just can't help it!

    CRASS. CRASS. CRASS. Best. Band. Ever. They vowed to not tour again until their was world peace, luckily one of the singers broke down (or is just plain broke) and decided to do a tour. March 18th they will be playing in Pamona, one of the most fun currant punk venues in socal. The day after is Girltalk, one of the best mash-up artests to date, so make it a two day event, what a great way to start your spring break.

    Currently my favorite artist goes by the name of Aloe Blacc. He is an amazing r & b singer with a very classy voice. I saw him live at the Casbah in San Diego last month, bought a CD and haven't taken it out of my car's player since. Check him out..
