This Week: The beginning of class will be ensuring that your presentations and assessments are ready. The assessments should be a Google form embedded on your blog. If you go back and revisit the instructions for the assessment (found waaay back in week 6), you need at least 3 questions (could have more): one about the content (NETS Performance Indicators for your grade range), one about the technical aspects (number of slides/frames, graphics, etc.), and one about the overall presentation. Once you are ready, you will present your NETS-S presentation to grade-level groups. I will also revisit the emerging technology checklist to see if you have any questions and show everyone how to put their narratives in TaskStream (Each group has had at least two edits from me!). Lastly, if time permits, I will show you how to use Inspiration to plan out the final TaskStream narratives!
Journal 9: "Teaching Green," by John K. Waters is in the April 2011 issue of t|h|e Journal. This journal is free if you register. Remember, you can also search L&L for an article that is in an area you are interested in!
This Week's Question: What would be your ideal teaching job? If you are not an aspiring educator, what is your ideal job?
My ideal teaching job would be a High School Geometry teacher. My favorite subject to teach is Math, and Geometry is my favorite math subject. I also prefer to work with older students, as I work with High School students right now.
ReplyDeleteMy ideal teaching job would be a kindergarten teacher at the Elementary school I went to. I still live in the same neighborhood and I volunteer at the school right now. I would love to teach at that school and I would love to work with all the little kids. :)
ReplyDeleteMy ideal teaching job would be ninth grade math at a high school. This way I can not only be in a high school but I can also coach cheerleading on the side. If ninth grade doesn't pan out for me, I would like to teach 6th grade math because they are so cute! Either way I like the idea of being a part of their first year at middle school (if it starts at 6th and not 7th) or their first year of high school.
ReplyDeleteMy ideal teaching job would be somewhere in a tropical place teaching all kinds of people from ranging in age, and from all over the world. I wouldn't even have a classroom, our classes would be held outside and everyone would be the teacher. It would be like a big international learning session on the beach! Oh and I'd get paid a million dollars a day for it, and half of my proceeds would go to people less fortunate than me!
ReplyDeleteI would love to teach in a community that works together; with parents assisting in their child's learning aspects and the volunteering work they put forth to the classroom. I would love to teach 5th grade or middle school to put to use my history and french abilities.
ReplyDeleteMy ideal teaching job is a high school or middle school Spanish teaching job. I would also love the opportunity to teach and support ELL and perhaps even teach at a Bilingual immersion school. I was an English Language Learner myself and was in a bilingual elementary school in my early years. I can remember some of the frustrations and inequities that I suffered. I would love to make things right and help others that find themselves in the same situation.
ReplyDeleteI would love to fast forward through the next couple of years to when I'll be working as a speech language pathologist at an elementary school. It's been a long time passion of mine and I can hardly wait to get there!
ReplyDeleteMy ideal teaching job would be at the high school level. I would love to teach History for a few periods throughout the day while focusing the other half of my attention on running the student government class. I've always loved working with students on their leadership capabilities. I would also love to find myself halfway through a bag of sunflower seeds, sitting in a dugout, coaching my high school freshman, JV or varsity team play baseball.

ReplyDeleteMy ideal teaching job would involve special education with at risk youths in a low income community.
ReplyDeleteI think that if I was not wanting to become an educator, I would want to become a Social Worker. Helping at risk youths in our society. What better way to help our youth than working hands on with them in difficult situations.
ReplyDeleteMy ideal teaching job would be in a Kindergarten, 1st or 2nd grade classroom in a school that is progressive and encourages alternative learning styles rather than the traditional memorization learning.

ReplyDeleteProfessor at a university. but until I get my masters I would love to teach high school math. or any math. as long as there is a job for it!
ReplyDeleteMy ideal teaching job would be in the Kindergarten classroom. Students this age have such an amazing mind, and the ability to forget all of their troubles at the sight of a lollipop.
ReplyDeleteId really love to teach back in my hometown or maybe beach side at the 11th and 12th grade level. If not a stand up comedian. Or a script writer for snl or a comedy series.

ReplyDeleteI would definitely be working at the high school I went to in Pacific Beach. I would teach ninth and tenth grade pe. I still know the majority of the staff there including the principal, old and new athletic director as well.
ReplyDeleteMy ideal teaching job would be in Mexico teaching English to Mexican children.
ReplyDeleteMy ideal job would be at an elementary school, preferably 4th grade. At first I wanted to go back to my hometown and be a teacher there, but now I think I'll prefer to stay in San Marcos and work at a local elementary school!
ReplyDeleteMy ideal teaching jobs vary. I taught back in Newburgh NY, about 10 years ago and loved everything about it. It was a great school, staff and the kids, while socio-economically disadvantaged wanted to try. I taught 5th and 6th grade which I loved because the kids are more mature and understand more grown up topics and jokes. My other ideal would be to teach History in a high school class. It doesn't matter what type of history, or which grade, I just love teaching, discussing and creating interest in it rather than panic.
ReplyDeleteMy ideal teaching position is a U.S. History teacher at the high school level...or king of the world...either or.
ReplyDeleteMy ideal teaching job would be teaching elementary school children all over the world. I would love to find a way to incorporate some serious traveling along with my career and family. If that doesn't work out, then I will definitely be traveling during my summers off!
